DNSnetworks Datacenters Certification Information

Payment Card Industry Certification

Certification - Payment Card Industry

What it is

Defined by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council, the standard was created to increase controls around cardholder data to reduce credit card fraud via its exposure. Validation of compliance is done annually — by an external Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) for organizations handling large volumes of transactions, or by Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) for companies handling smaller volumes. Customers who are payment card network members, merchants, as well as service providers that store, process or transmit cardholder data require PCI Compliance.

What it means for you

PCI Compliance is required if you store or maintain personal financial information.

It provides you with independent assurance as well as an objectivity that our controls, processes and procedures adhere to third-party accreditation requirements and also that your hosting facilities are compliant with industry best practices.

Additionally, hosting in a PCI-compliant data centre simplifies your own PCI audit, thus saving you time as well as money.

Redundancy & Maintainability Certification

Certification - Redundancy & Maintainability

What it is

Uptime Institute is the global data centre authority. Its tiered classification system is an industry standard approach to site infrastructure functionality identifying different data centre site infrastructure design topologies. It also addresses common benchmarking standard needs.

The validation process starts with a Design Certification, and also a complete document review, followed by a Constructed Facility Certification. This requires a physical, on-site review of the facility as well as a demonstration of the site’s concurrent maintenance and/or fault tolerance functionality.

Data Center Security Certifications

What it is

ISAE 3402 Type II is an internationally-recognized auditing statement that defines the professional standards used by a service auditor to assess the internal controls of service organizations, such as hosted data centres, and then issues a service auditor report once the auditing is completed. Compliance of these audits is important to any organization which faces rigorous financial, operational and also compliance obligations. Additionally, they are required by most government as well as public entities using data centre facilities.

What it means for you

ISAE 3402 Type II certification ensures that a service business is maintaining effective as well as efficient internal controls related to financial, information, or security reporting. It provides you with greater independent assurance and also objectivity that our controls, processes and procedures adhere to third-party accreditation requirements and also that your hosting facilities are compliant with industry best practices.

What it is

Previously known as SAS70 Type II, SSAE 16 Type II is the Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16, Reporting on Controls at a Services Organization. It is the American version of ISAE 3402 Type II and has also become the gold standard for audits of a service provider’s internal controls.

What it means for you

Similarly to ISAE 3402, SSAE 16 Type II certification ensures that a service business is maintaining effective as well as efficient internal controls related to financial, information, or security reporting. It provides you with greater independent assurance and also objectivity that our controls, processes and procedures adhere to third-party accreditation requirements and also that your hosting facilities are compliant with industry best practices.

What it is

SOC 2 is the auditing framework by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) for service-oriented technology companies to demonstrate the capabilities of their processes and controls. It expands the evaluation of controls to the criteria of the standardized Trust Services Principles. The independent audit firm Auditwerx found Rogers Data Centres’ operations to be compliant with the strict industry standards for security and also availability as well as completed the SOC 2 audit for DNSnetworks Data Centres on June 1, 2013.

What it means for you

Service providers must demonstrate having adequate controls of data protection technologies as well as processes. The SOC 2 report puts strict audit requirements in place and also sets a high bar with a more meaningful audit standard then SAS70 or SSAE 16 SOC 1. SOC 2 validates the security of infrastructures as well as services. In addition, it is rapidly becoming an industry standard.

What it is

CSAE 3416 Type II certification replaces CICA 5970, which had been the standard in Canada for performing independent third-party assurance engagements. Developed by the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board, it is the new Canadian Standard on Assurance Engagements, developed on the basis of the international standard of ISAE 3402 but amended to respond to the U.S. requirements of SSAE 16.

What it means for you

Similarly to ISAE 3402 and SSAE 16, CSAE 3416 Type II certification ensures that a service business is maintaining effective as well as efficient internal controls related to financial, information, or security reporting. It provides you with greater independent assurance and objectivity that our controls, processes and procedures adhere to third-party accreditation requirements and also that your hosting facilities are compliant with industry best practices.

Energy & Environmental Design Certification

What it is

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is an internationally recognized green building certification system. It consists of a suite of third-party rating systems for the design, construction and also operation of high-performance green buildings, homes and neighbourhoods. It provides building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations as well as maintenance solutions.

This third-party verification ensures that a building was designed as well as built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most such as energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emission reduction and the quality of the indoor environment.
